Pregnancy, Labour, and Breastfeeding

There is contention and debate about the safety of essential oils for women who are pregnant (particularly in the first trimester). Most believe that a few drops of an essential oil is harmless, and that any ill effects that might occur from the use of essential oils to an unborn foetus, or induction of labour is related to the over use or ingestion of the oils. That being said, the following essential oils are advised as ‘to be avoided” by pregnant women and lactating mothers. Those women who are planning a pregnancy might also wish to avoid the oils.
